My new makeup routine

A week ago I made a little trip to Sephora early in the day, right after my little girl woke up from her nap (new mom here).

I wanted to try something new, new foundation, new concealer, new blush, new everything. I’ve been kinda bored with my usual makeup routine and products and wanted a change. Also my face has changed a bit, more dryness, dark circles and a bit of melasma in the upper lip wasn’t helping.

All of you know that I love Make Up For Ever HD but with the skin changes I’ve had this past year, it just wasn’t giving me the coverage I needed. Plus the hectic day to day activities and carrying a 22lbs baby was making me sweat a bit more than just sitting on a comfy chair in an office (back when I used to work) and noticed that my foundation was melting off and not lasting long enough. Which sucks because if you wake up at 7am and have to run errands, do chores around the house etc etc by 2pm I would look like I had barely any makeup on.

Ok so back to my trip to Sephora. I spent and hour and a half with one of the girls there trying to figure out which foundation shade to purchase. She obviously used the IQ thingy on my skin and it helped narrow down what to look for.

After trying Kat von D Lock it, which was a big fail, waaay too dry, we settled for Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet. Yes, and it was awesome! It gave good coverage and kept the oilies at bay long enough for me to look decent at the end of the day.

Next up was picking out a concealer, but this was easy. She mention Tarte Marajuca creaseless concealer and I went for it. And yes, the coverage is great, and even though it has a pretty thick consistency it does not crease (I have a few fine lines under my eyes) and gives awesome coverage.

The rest was even easier, ended up picking out Nars blush palette, the one with the bronzer, highlighter and blush) in Native, then a Buxom lip gloss (don’t remember which shade), and finally but not least, the Urban Decay Naked Basics 2.

I’ll admit I was a little meh about the Urban Decay new Basics palette but after swatching it the colors were great for an every day look so I caved in and added it to the haul.

All in all it was a very successful trip. The girls there were super helpful and took their time to find the right shades for my skin tone (I have some yellowish undertones so sometimes is tricky).

I’ve also made some changes on my skin care routine but this post is way too long lol so I’ll let you guys know in the coming days what my skin routine has been like after having a baby.
