My new makeup routine

A week ago I made a little trip to Sephora early in the day, right after my little girl woke up from her nap (new mom here).

I wanted to try something new, new foundation, new concealer, new blush, new everything. I’ve been kinda bored with my usual makeup routine and products and wanted a change. Also my face has changed a bit, more dryness, dark circles and a bit of melasma in the upper lip wasn’t helping.

All of you know that I love Make Up For Ever HD but with the skin changes I’ve had this past year, it just wasn’t giving me the coverage I needed. Plus the hectic day to day activities and carrying a 22lbs baby was making me sweat a bit more than just sitting on a comfy chair in an office (back when I used to work) and noticed that my foundation was melting off and not lasting long enough. Which sucks because if you wake up at 7am and have to run errands, do chores around the house etc etc by 2pm I would look like I had barely any makeup on. Continue reading »

My weekend favorites

Have I told you how much I like Target? Honestly, I sometimes just go to peruse around the aisles and look at their new things. Here’s what I found last night that really caught my eye:

1. Merona yellow/gray pouch

2. No brand linear leaf cluster earrings

3. No brand pearl charm bangle bracelet

4. Prabal Gurung Pebble racerback tank top in Calypso Coral

What are your favorites?

Review: Get rid of your dark spots with Maybelline

Maybelline Age Rewind Dark Spot

Maybe it’s Maybelline! Can’t help but get reminded of their commercials. I’ve been using Maybelline’s Instant Age Rewind for Dark Circles since it came out. I’ve tried other brands in the meanwhile but always come back to Maybelline because that particular concealer doesn’t settle into the little lines under my eyes.

I’ll admit that I’ve even used it as “highlighter” to contour my nose, forehead, etc etc. Now, while taking a little trip to Target I found this similar version of the dark circles concelear but it’s only for dark spots.

Instant Age Rewind Dark Spot Eraser

I bought it because I just wanted to see what the difference really is and the “dark circles” version doesn’t cover blemishes that well.

Well this one does work. It’s thicker, with way more coverage. It’s definitely not for the under eyes because it could settle on fine lines, but it works really well for blemishes or just any dark spot you need to cover up.

It last really when set with powder, so if you are looking for a concealer for acne scars or any other type of blemish this one is worth it.

Have you tried it yet?

Review: New Maybelline Color Whisper

Maybelline Color

While making a little trip to Target a stumble upon these new little “lipsticks” and even thought the rack was almost empty I did find these two pretty colors. I was shocked they were almost sold out because they have a huge range of colors that I would’ve loved to try out.

The ones that I ended up buying are “Made-It Mauve” (left) and “Go Nude” (right).

Maybelline’s website says: “Pure color pigments suspended in a weightless gel.
No heavy waxes or oils”.

I’m not sure what this gel thing is, but these remind me a lot of L’Oreal Caresse because they are very smooth and sheer (just one layer). You still get enough pigment to see the color but they aren’t as heavy as regular lipstick which is nice.

From both colors that I bought I’m definitely using “Go Nude” the most, especially since it has a very peachy tone to it, which is different that the other pink/nudes that I own.

Maybelline Color Whisper

Still a good buy, they last a pretty decent amount of time, like 2 hours. It’s similar to a lip gloss but without the sticky part. They make your lips feel soft, the pigment is pretty good so you can definitely have some fun trying out some bright colors like the “Berry Red” or a Plum Prospect”, which sadly they didn’t have in stock, and enough it gives shine without the use of lip gloss on top.

Cute find at Target: Stripped crossbody purse

While browsing the accessory aisle at Target the other night this little crossbody purse caught my eye. It was the only one left. Seems to be from their Spring season accessories but it was the only one left in the store when I bought it. Continue reading »
