When UD junkies cried out for a palette of matte neutrals, Naked Basics delivered—and left them begging for MORE shades. (And we couldn’t deny them!)
Cooler in tone than the original, Naked2 Basics complements Naked2 perfectly. We loaded this indispensable palette with six TAUPE-hued matte neutrals, including five never-before-seen shades. These shadows are neutral enough for anyone, from cool skin tones to olive complexions to darker skin. Continue reading »
Doesn’t that name sound awful? Hyperemesis Gravidarum…
Well it is bad. I won’t sugar coat it.
For me it started around the 12th week. The first weeks of pregnancy I only had nausea and a few episodes of throwing up (like 5) but then all of the sudden one day I started throwing up 6, 7, 8, 10, 15, 20 times a day… and this went on for WEEKS… and let me tell you, it’s not pleasant.
You are in the bathroom floor, shaking, eyes blood shot, broken capillaries everywhere, dreading the next episode, crying non stop because you feel extremely nauseous, you haven’t been able to drink fluids or even eat something light (trust me fruit or crackers don’t cut it), your neck stiff because your body has been straining so much trying to throw up pretty much nothing (stomach is already empty), you get the picture.
Going to work at 7:00am obviously doesn’t help either but necessary since I need health insurance.
Finally, after a trip to the ER because of extreme dehydration I was able to get Zofran and after a few weeks on it, my appetite is back to “normal”. I’ve been lucky that Zofran worked for me, I know that it doesn’t do the trick for everyone but if I keep taking it (2-3 times a day) I can function and eat regular meals. If I don’t take it then I start throwing up again. I’ve also gained some of the weight I lost during that horrible period, so that’s good.
Anyways I don’t want to throw a pity party for myself, just wanted to tell my story. Still when I read this post it really doesn’t make justice for how it really feels to be sick like that (and I’m omitting some details), but I guess it’s nice to write it down. I’m sure some women will read this and relate.
Besides being sick, the baby is doing great, she’s healthy and that’s what matters. I’m 20 weeks, and she’s moving a lot which makes me insanely happy!
Salt makes the hair grow fonder… or something like that. Anyways, the most important thing is that Bumble and bumble has produced counterparts to the cult-favorite Surf Spray. Thank you hair gods! (Into the Gloss)
Thanks to this product review, I need to try this Jouer Matte Moisture Tint. (Bronzer Bunny)
Are you ready for the weekend? Today is MY Friday and I can’t wait! What do you think of this outfit? I love everything about it, especially the short with the little jacket, so cute to go out to dinner on a spring night.
My only plans this weekend is to go watch Oblivion (lovee sci fi movies) and eat some truffle fries! I’ve been craving truffles fries the whole week… so it’s gonna happen nom nom nom
Lately eyebrows have been my obsession lately. I’ve been playing around with different shapes and ways to fill them up, and still can’t find the quickest and easiest way to have them look perfect in less than 2 minutes.
I ended up purchasing Too Faced Brow Envy Kit Blond/Brunette a while ago and I love it, but it takes me a long time to do my brows in the morning. I’m sure is just because I’m getting used to it. I used to do them with a pencil so using a brush and powder to give them shape and fill them in does take some extra time.
For the curious: The eyebrow is an area of thick, delicate hairs above the eye that follows the shape of the lower margin of the brow ridges of some mammals. Their main function is to prevent sweat, water, and other debris from falling down into the eye socket, but they are also important to human communication and facial expression. It is not uncommon for people – women in particular – to modify their eyebrows by means of hair addition, removal, makeup, tattoo, or piercings.
Still I won’t complain, having well defined brows is a must… Some people can get away with just their natural eyebrows but mine are sparce so I need to fill out with some powder or pencil or I’ll just look super weird.
See? Eyebrows do make a big difference! Here I compiled a list of the best tutorials for eyebrows. Some of them are simpler than other, while some of the videos show you a more arched and highlighted brow (which I never have time to try on myself): Continue reading »
Not everyone has perfect, flawless skin, and certainly I don’t. I have big pores, a few freckles and I’m starting to get some lines under my eyes.
But you can FAKE flawless skin, you only need the right products.
In the next few days I’ll review some of the products you see in this picture but honestly, first step for flawless skin, exfoliate!
You need a smooth canvas to start with, and nothing is better than exfoliated skin, that way you get rid of that extra layer of gunk that normal face cleansers don’t get rid off.
Second step, moisturize or use a good primer… In my case I go with primer. My face tends to get greasy and I hate the oily feeling some moisturizers leave on my skin. If you have dry skin then moisturize and follow it by a good primer like Smashbox.
Third step, a good foundation and concealer (I’ll put this two together). NARS, Make Up For Ever, etc etc. There are tons of them but currently I use NARS sheer matte foundation and Make Up For Ever HD foundation. Go to Sephora, or Ulta and play around with different foundations or ask for help, I’m sure they’ll be happy to help you find something that fits your needs.
If you prefer to buy a cheaper foundation because you don’t want to spend too much money on makeup then try L’Oreal True Match. They have a great variety of colors to choose from and it has great coverage.
My other drugstore foundation recommendation would be Revlon Colorstay. Again, great coverage and it’s really good for oily skin.
For concealer, I’m using NARS radiant creamy concealer and it’s amazing. A cheaper version that it’s always good is Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer, less pigmented but it’s pretty good for the price.
Last but not least, a setting powder. In the picture above you can take a pic of my new Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light. If you can splurge on it, then awesome, it works really really well, but you’ll read more on it on my review this week.
If not e.l.f studio high definition powder, it’s very similar to Make Up For Ever HD microfinish powder, way cheaper and it gives the same effect. Just be careful not to over do it since it can leave a white cast or it can show up in pictures, so use a light hand.
The rest is just easy, some blush (maybe Maybelline FIT or Illamasqua which is my fave), mascara, lipgloss, etc etc.
In summary, how do you achieve flawless skin? EXFOLIATE, PRIMER, FOUNDATION, AND SETTING POWDER, with emphasis on exfoliation and primer. Those two make a huge difference!
